These leak very little so the flow to the screen while it seems restrictive really amounts to nothing. The whole assembly, bearings, tensioner shoes and chain get lube from splash from the crank. I check to make sure the oil is somewhere on the stick. If it is I ride the bike to fully warm it up and let it run on the side stand a minute or two.Just changed mine and to get mine to read correctly on the dipstick I added about 2.75 quarts. Even contacted the mechanic (that I trust) at the dealership...he told me that he adds 2.5 quarts rides it than tops off with a little more (yes, about 2.75 quarts).
